UPDATES

January was quite a month with the Kirkin’ at Lakeside Presbyterian and the 2012 Burns Dinner.  We had over 30 flags carried in at the Kirkin.  A fantastic effort by our many members.

The 2012 Burns Dinner was a rousing success.  We served over 100 people from many clans thanks to the tireless effots of Clan Berdoll.  The Palm Beach Pipes and Drums, Bobby Paul, and Miss Bailey entertained us.  Jim McCulloch presented his wonderful homemade Haggis and then brought us to our feet with his ‘Ode to a Haggis’ (not a dry eye in the room.)

President Scott Ladd welcomed one and all and we had the traditional toasts to the Lassies, Laddies, All Scots, Her Majesty, the American Flag. We ended this part of the program by singing America and Flower of Scotland.

A wonderful dinner of Beef and Turkey with vegetables from the kitchens of the North Palm Beach C.C. The Gruesome Threesome led us in many traditional Scottish Songs including Loch Lomond, I Belong to Glasgow, Skye Boat, and The Star of Robbie Burns.  Clan Graham, again, provided the baskets of cheer. Peter, Bob, Betty, and Annie deserve a speical thanks as well!

Three hours of fun and good times ended when we joined hands, Don Horine piped and we all sang Auld Lang Syne.

WELCOME

The Scottish American Society of Palm Beach County was formed by Scottish immigrants and Americans of Scottish descent in February 1984. They came together to promote the study of Scotland's language, history, literature and music, and to support any movements favorable to the continuance of Scottish customs, sports, dancing, dress and the like. You are cordially invited to attend meetings and join with us in a celebration of all things Scottish.

The meetings are held at Lakeside Presbyterian Church:, 4601 S Flagler Dr, West Palm Beach, FL 33405. SASPBC meets on the third Friday evening at 7 PM of each month. If you have an interest in Scottish traditions, history and culture, a cup of tea and a hearty welcome awaits you.
